QUALIFIERS - Vince Byrd

What’s your home town?
Dayton, Tenn.

Where did you go to school?
I went to Rhea County High School in Dayton, Tenn., and also graduated
college from Bryan College in Dayton with a business management degree.

What’s your marital status?
I am married.

What do you do for a living?
I currently work at La-Z-Boy Chair Company as a supervisor in the metal department.

Any kids?
I have a 13-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter.

How long have you been playing poker?
I have been playing poker off and on since I was 13, which is a little over 20 years. 

What or who inspired you to start playing?
My friends and some of my uncles inspired me to play poker. 
 
How long have you been playing at Bodog?
I have been playing on Bodog for a little over a year now and pretty much exclusively on this site. 

Tell us about your best poker win…
My biggest cash at one time was more than $25K in a $1K buy-in tourney in Tunica three years ago.

How did you win your seat?
I won my seat by just buying in directly to the Player’s Choice tourney.  

What do you think your chances are of winning the WSOP*? 
I think it is a long shot to win the Main Event obviously, but if I catch the right cards and win the crucial races when needed, I like my chances as well as anyone's.

Who is your favorite poker player?
It’s hard to just mention one player so I won't. I do have a very good friend that has done well as a pro in tourneys and he has actually tutored me some in the past year and helped my game out a lot. Minh Nguyen is the player I am referring to. 

What would you do if you won?
If I did win the Main Event, I would no doubt use some of the money to help out my family and friends.
 
How much would you need to win to make you quit your job?
It would take at least $500K plus to make me quit my regular job. If I didn’t have a family as I do now, I’d have already gone full time in
poker.

Have you been to Vegas before? If so, any good stories? If not, what are you expecting?
I have been to Vegas several times and do enjoy my time there. I don’t spend a lot of time doing anything other than grinding it out at the tables.
