When playing a Sit and Go tournament, one of the most important factors to consider is stack size. You have to compare the size of your stack against the size of the blinds, as well as the stack size of any opponents you may be in a hand with. As a Sit and Go progresses, the blinds will elevate to levels that will force the action. Short-stacked players will need to make something happen because the blinds deplete their stack too quickly. That, combined with aggressive big-stack players looking to put pressure on opponents so they can steal blinds, makes for an aggressive atmosphere.
You want to make sure that you find a balance with your stack size versus the blind size. You don’t want to get blinded out of the tournament, so pump it up when the blinds get to be 20 percent or more of your stack size. If you can stay above this percentage, the blinds won’t be a dominant factor for you.
Also, when in a hand you must compare your opponent’s stack size to yours. If you have a lot more than they have, you can try and force the action because you’re in no danger of being knocked out of the tournament. If your opponent has more than you, you’ll be walking on thin ice and will be in danger of getting knocked out. You’ll want to have some good cards if you get into a hand with a bigger stack.
