Online Poker,
Tournaments
July 5 2008
If you want to be a serious online tournament poker player, you have to do more than just read poker books and play tournaments. There has to be some type of organization to your play so you know if you’re getting results and whether or not you’re improving.
The first step to organizing your game is to schedule out your tournaments. Tournaments require a time commitment that you should be prepared to provide. For a regular multi-table tournament you can expect to play for four or five hours if there are over 2,500 entrants and you make the final positions.
Research the events you want to play in for the next month and set the time aside to play them. There are a lot more distractions at home, so let the people around you know that you have the tournament scheduled and you’ll be unavailable during that time, unless there’s an emergency. If you have an early exit, you can use the time to play Sit and Go tournaments or satellite events.
Scheduling your play will assist you in the rest of your life. You’ll be able to schedule work and other important things that need your attention. That way you’ll get to play in the tournaments you want the most, and you won’t get pulled away to tend to something else.
