Pot Limit Poker

In a poker world where most of the new players are learning the aggressive way to play poker online, most of the older pros prefer the Pot Limit games to No Limit games. They prefer them because they can outplay their opponents in these hands more often than in the all-in games where aggressive young opponents use the all-in bet to control the game. In Pot Limit, the bet is reduced to the size of the pot, and this allows you to draw on hands that you would be forced out of in a No Limit game.
Most pots don’t get big until the turn or the river, and the experienced players will be able to determine more things about what their opponents will be holding by then. Legends like T.J. Cloutier and Barry Greenstein are able to dominate these games because they understand all the situations involved, and there are many.
If you decide to play Pot Limit Omaha, the best thing to keep in mind is the “pump it or dump it” theory. Things can change fast in this game, so it’s important to pump up the betting with the lead and dump anything that doesn’t have serious potential to become the best hand.
